“Whatever…”  Super Cool Person of the Week

Oct 14, 2005

My shout out for Super Cool Person of the Week this week is Jake Beaty.

If you attend NewSpring and have seen me walking around then you have seen Jake…he is the guy who is taller than me and is usually with me on Sunday’s. And yes, there is a reason for him being with me…I am the most A-D-D person in the world and when people tell me things that need to be remembered…I always forget—but Jake doesn’t—he’s the man!

Jake is one of those guys with a “whatever” attitude…and I mean that in a very positive way. “Whatever” he needs to do—he will do it…and it will get done with level 10 excellence. He’s one of those people that every pastor needs on his staff—when I pass something along to Jake I do not worry about it getting done…I know it’s taken care of. (To be honest—our staff & NewSpring is full of people like that!)

Jake has served our church in several roles—he began as a youth minister and actually worked for free for several months—which was really cool since we had no money!!! (Keep in mind that during that time he didn’t have a job—he literally was at the church doing full time work with no pay.)

Finally we started paying him…and since then I believe he’s changed roles about 17 times. OK, not that many—but seriously—he’s always has been willing to do what needed to be done—whatever we have needed him to do—he’s done it.

Currently he is serving the church as the Pastor of Outreach. (I think he’s pretty safe here!) He handles things such as projects in the community, some limited counseling (I say limited because we usually refer people to professionals), he follows up from visitors from Sunday, he is over the prayer ministry…and I am sure there are about 100 other things that he does.

Jake—you rock man! Thanks for the work that you do—God’s Kingdom is growing and He is being honored by your work and your attitude. Keep up the great work!
