I’m Figuring It Out- Study Guide
#1 – Today we began with I Corinthians 9:26-27 and talked about how Paul had a plan. The Apostle Paul used “racing” quite a bit in some of his writings. (And…as all NASCAR fans know, racing requires a plan!) Check out the following passages…
I Corinthians 9:24-27
Philippians 3:12-14
Hebrews 12:1-3
II Timothy 4:6-8
#2 – Proverbs 21:5 declares a promise. With that in mind, what is your next step in your personal walk with Christ?
#3 – Today we spoke about Jesus being intentional. Focus on the fact that He was intentional in regards to pursuing you. With that in mind, look up and underline or highlight Ephesians 2:8-10 in your Bible, noticing that God has a plan for your life!
#4 – Jesus was often accused of “hanging out with the wrong people.” Read Matthew 9:9-13. Who did Jesus say He actually came to hang out with?
#5 – We spoke about being insulted in regards to our walk with Jesus. Insults will come to any person who wants to follow Christ. Here are some passages that may encourage and equip you for the challenge:
Isaiah 54:17
Matthew 5:10-12
John 15:18-20
II Corinthians 4:7-10
II Timothy 3:12
I Corinthians 15:57-58
I John 4:4
#6 – According to John 13:34-35, how did Jesus say people would be able to recognize those who follow Him?
#7- I mentioned today the “Seven ‘I Am’ Statements of Christ.” (When Jesus said “I am” He was claiming to be God—it is a reference back to Exodus 3:13-14 when Moses asked God what His name was, and God responded, “I Am.” If you want a clearer picture of who Jesus is—these are GREAT passages to underline, highlight and/or memorize.
John 6:35 – “I Am the bread of life!”
John 8:12 – “I Am the light of the world!”
John 10:9 – “I Am the gate!”
John 10:11 – “I Am the good shepherd”
John 11:25-26 – “I Am the resurrection and the life!”
John 14:6 – “I Am the way, the truth and the life!”
John 15:5 – “I Am the vine!”
#8 – Read Matthew 6:19-24. Is money a heart issue?
#9 – Jesus was not trying to tear the woman at the well down, but rather build her up. When He confronts us it’s only because He loves us and wants greater things for us— with than in mind read through Hebrews 12:4-13 and underline every time you see the word “discipline.”
#10 – According to John 1:12, is simply believing in God enough?
#11 – What is Jesus wanting to change in you? Take a second and don’t simply read Psalm 139:23-24, but pray it and then be still (Psalm 46:10) and listen.
#12 – Who are you planning on inviting to THE BEST WEEKEND EVER (August 29-30)? Take a second to pray specifically for them, that Jesus will change them (Ezekiel 36:26-27) and make them into a brand new person (II Corinthians 5:17), full of life (John 10:10), hope (Psalm 25:3) and peace (Romans 5:1).
