Growing Pains

Jan 11, 2006

I’ve always been sort of clumsy…and I have ZERO coordination. (If you have ever seen me play basketball then you know I am speaking the truth! Yes, my brother—I heard that amen…)

It was especially bad in middle school when I was growing rapidly—I was usually the tallest person in my class…and I remember having to buy size 14 shoes and trying to walk around in those things—it seemed like I was always bumping into something.

Things like this are better known as growing pains.

For those who attend NewSpring…uh, yep—we are growing…and because of that we are experiencing some growing pains. (Good ones!)

For example—this past Sunday we had 4,335 people. That’s incredible!!! Now keep this in mind, our peeps from Anderson University were back in town…but our brothers from other mothers and sisters from different misters who go to Clemson do not begin classes until tomorrow…so quite of few of them were not back yet.

So this Sunday has the potential to be SLAMMED! :-) There is the definite possibility that more people will be there this Sunday than last Sunday…which means limited parking spots and limited seating.

We were discussing this in our staff meeting on Monday and said that if we were not moving into our new facility on February 12th that we would begin a 5th service—we would have to—there is no way around it. However, it makes no sense to start a 5th service right now if we are only going to do it for the next four weeks.

So here is where you come in—here is how YOU can help us out. We need as many people as possible who are currently attending the 9:45 and the 11:15 services to commit to 8:30 for the next four weeks. I know it’s tough to get up; however, by freeing up a seat in one of those services you will allow us to reach more people with the life changing message of Christ.

Now for some I understand this is an impossibility…you may volunteer in the 8:30 service and need to attend one of the other ones. OR…you may be a single mom…and just getting your kids to church at ANYTIME is a small miracle. Some of you work late on Saturday and just can’t get out of bed that early—trust me…I understand all of this.

But for some…you can do this! I know you can! If a group of us meet at 6:00 every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to RUN…then you can make it to church at 8:30. :-) I am asking some of you to commit to 8:30…remember, it is only for four more weeks…after that there will be no more 8:30 service. (Our new service times WHEN we get to our new facility will be 9:30, 11:15, and 6:00)

Four weeks—FOUR! Can you believe that? I believe we are going to see God do so much in these next several weeks…and one of the benefits of being at 8:30 is you get to see it first! :-)

So that’s about it—help us out in our growing pains…and after attending the 8:30 service you can take yourself and the guests you brought with you (wink-wink) to Cracker Barrel for some grub. (I believe that might be a word from the Lord!!!) :-)

In other random news…

OK…I AM HOOKED! Last night I borrowed the first season of “Lost” on DVD from some friends and ‘Cretia and I watched the first four shows. Oh wow…it’s official…I have drank the kool-aid!

Please…if you see me in public—do NOT tell me anything about who does what or what is going to happen…I don’t want to know…actually—I do…but don’t tell me…please!

I’ve got a lot of catching up to do…I will be watching more throughout the week. It took me awhile to actually go to sleep last night!!!
