Four Dangers Of Leadership Part Four - Misc.

#4 - A Few Other Thoughts…

Today is Friday…so I thought I would conclude this series with a few other bullet points of the dangers of leadership…

  • Loving the church more than you own family…and sacrificing them, justifying it by saying Christ will make up for your shortcomings at home.
  • Not asking for help…and allowing the load to completely crush you.  (You are NOT a super hero…stop trying to be!)
  • Allowing the weekly attendance to set your mood for the week.
  • Thinking that everyone who begins to journey with you will also cross the finish line with you.
  • Not trusting others because you’ve been burned in the past.
  • Believing the lie that you can’t be friends with the people that you lead.
  • Being more obsessed with who links your blog or retweets your twitter than doing ministry.
  • Expecting people to do what you think they should do rather than speaking your expectations to them.
  • Trying to handle conflict through email!  (It DOES NOT WORK!)
  • Believing that just because a program worked in another church that it will work in yours.
  • Thinking that the next series is the key to unlocking the growth engine in your church.
  • Believing that you are not successful because you don’t have the largest and/or fastest growing ministry.
  • Not taking your calling seriously (Hebrews 13:17)
  • Not taking God led steps of faith.  (Hebrews 11:1)
  • Living for the applause of men and not the applause of heaven.
  • Not getting enough rest.
  • Not dating your spouse.
  • Not coming to Unleash!  (Sorry…I had to throw that one in there!)
  • Not fixing our eyes on Jesus…who called us…equipped us…empowered us…enabled us to do what we do.
  • Giving up when He has PROMISED He will carry on to completion what He began!  (Philippians 1:6)
