OK, I know I sound like a broken record when it comes to this…and I can hear the bloggers typing away now, “I’m not going to read Perry’s blog anymore…all he’s talking about is UNLEASH.”
I can’t help it guys…so…bear with me for just a little while longer. :-)
Last January (2007) our leadership team decided to try to host our first conference. We wanted to make it affordable and limit it to one day. We began making preparations in hopes that we would have at least 100 people.
Well…as some of you remember last year we had right around 900 people…and it was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever had the privilege of being a part of.
SO…this year we wanted to do it again.
I asked Tony how many he thought we could have this year…and he (along with the rest of us) said that we would be thrilled if we had around 1,000. (You can read his thoughts here!)
Uh…oh us of little faith!
Last week the registrations went over 1,500 with just a little less than a month to go. SO…we’ve had to do something I never thought we would ever have to do—we had to make the decision to limit the number of registrations to 2,000 people—which means there are less than 500 spaces still available.
(NEXT year will be a different story—we will have a lot more space!!!)
SO…if you are thinking about coming but haven’t yet gotten your team signed up—DO IT NOW!
And keep in mind that the reason we put this conference together was not because we think we’ve got it all together as a church…but to share our victories AS WELL as our defeats. We don’t think we are the perfect church…OR even the BEST church…but we desperately want to serve other church leaders the best way that we can…and we feel that this conference allows us to accomplish that.
AND…if you are a senior pastor, DON’T JUST BRING OTHER STAFF MEMBERS…but bring volunteers as well! Trust me…it could revolutionize the way they think about church and ministry.
