Church

Thursday Night Panama City Update…

Jun 14, 2007

Whew…just got back from our last evening service and it was incredible.  These kids are on FIRE.

A few quick highlights…

  • We baptized 87 teens on the beach this morning...it was one of the most awesome things I have ever experienced.
  • Tonight’s service we had a time where the students actually came forward and prayed for the youth staff—unbelievable!
  • The band taught us a new song down here called “Broadcast,” when I heard it I said, “We are opening with that song on Sunday.”  It’s my new favorite!
  • A teenager came up to me this evening and told me that he prays for me everyday…dang…there is NOTHING like knowing someone is praying for you.

I can’t wait to hear what happens at Ignite on Sunday night and Fuse on Wednesday night…I personally think they are going to blow the roof off of their new building.

I am convinced now more than ever before that our teenagers need a LARGE place to meet on the campus of NewSpring Church…and it is going to cost a lot of money…and we are going to build it BECAUSE they are worth it!

Tonight I sat in the back and watched these teens worship…and as I always do in situations like this…I kept thinking over and over, “If I would have had something like this…I would not have done some of the stupid things I did.”

I can’t go back and erase the past…but I can begin praying about what the Lord wants me to give towards this next capital campaign because, in doing so…in providing a place for teens to meet and hang out…I will be a part of giving them a chance that I never had…and maybe keep them out of some of the many pits I fell into.

The youth are NOT the church of tomorrow…they are the church of today…and we are going to do all we can to reach as many as we can…the best is yet to come!!!

PLEASE pray that we will all have a safe trip back tomorrow.  :-)  See you Sunday!
