Three Ways You Can Improve Your Life Today!

Aug 26, 2015

All of us have had "one of those days!"  (Some may be having one right now).  All too often I have found myself getting angry with others–and even with God because of the circumstances I am in.  If this is you, then let me share three things you can do within the next five minutes that have incredible potential to change your outcome.

#1 - Say "Thank You" To God For Something He Has Blessed You With.

All too often I can get so focused on what I want that I lose sight of what I have.  Do you have a job?  A car?  Clothes?  Food?  A spouse?  Kids?  I could go on, but you get the point.

I've discovered thankfulness eradicates bitterness and entitlement in my own life.

#2 - Encourage Someone.

Seriously, pick up your phone (or maybe even walk across the room) and take three or four minutes to speak LIFE into that person.  No one has ever said, "I really hate being around BLANK because they encourage me so much!"

I wrote a prayer in my journal just the other day asking Jesus to let me be a person who builds others up, not tears them down.

We live in a society which makes it easy to rip people to shreds on social media, and there are way more discouraged people around us than we could imagine.

How does this help you?  It's simple–I've discovered that as I speak life into a person, the Lord will speak life into me.  So, give it a shot...you might just make someone's day!

#3 - Ask God For Wisdom

One of my "go to" verses is James 1:5 which says if we lack wisdom we can ask God and He will give it to us.

Maybe this is where you roll your eyes and say, "I don't believe in God."  That's ok–He believes in you, and I would be willing to bet my last Bible that if you asked Him for wisdom today He will answer you.

For those who do believe in God–you are not in the middle of a situation He is not aware of.  Many times He allows us to experience "one of those days" because it's the only way He can get our attention.  I know from personal experience that it is during these times that I've discovered over and over again how He will show me my next step if I will just ask.

#4 - BONUS:  Invite Someone To NewSpring This Weekend

This weekend at our church is what we refer to as "The Best Weekend Ever."  We are going to have Saturday night services at every campus (6pm–this weekend only) and the Gospel is going to be presented in a clear, creative way...it's unlike any presentation we've ever done.

How does this help you have a better day?

First - it allows you to intersect with someone else who may need help. People are struggling, wrestling, experiencing anxiety at an all time high...and YOUR INVITATION could be the thing that starts them on the road to recovery.

Second - I have discovered that any time I am able to talk about Jesus and what He has done for me, my mood ALWAYS gets better.

Try out those four things and let me know how it goes.
