Three Benefits For Having A Plan For Growth For Your Church

Oct 31, 2018

Every year in January the gym is SLAMMED with new people with brand new workout clothes and the best of intentions for this new year to be THE YEAR they finally get in shape…

…and usually in less than 30 days the overwhelming majority of them are GONE.

However, a few of them manage to stay…and, over time, begin to make significant progress.

What’s the main difference between the people who quit verses the people who conquer?

Simple - the people who conquer do so because they have a PLAN…and they dedicate themselves to it.

I’ve worked in church world for nearly 30 years, and I’ve never seen a church “accidentally” grow, or a ministry “accidentally” begin to thrive.  They usually do so because of leaders who are dedicated to hearing God’s voice and then taking action based on His direction.

In other words—they follow His plan.

What are the benefits of having a growth plan for your church?

#1 - It Unifies Staff & Volunteers - One of the biggest barriers to growth in churches is people know what to do, but don’t always necessarily know why it’s important.
When a plan for growth is introduced (with the “why” being clearly explained) - then everyone can focus their time and energy in the same direction, which, over time, builds incredible momentum for a church.

#2 - It Keeps You & Your Church Focused - As a church experiences growth—it will also experience other “opportunities” introduced by others.  (Honestly - there are some that will see your resources as your responsibility to financially support their ministry idea!)

When you have a specific plan - it really does allow you to say “no” to some thing that are good—so you can say “yes” to the things that are great—and that will have the greatest impact on God’s Kingdom.

#3 - It Allows Us To Dream Big - For far too many churches, the “win” is to simply “make it through Sunday!”  And, while that is certainly desirable - I believe we, as the church, are called to way more.

For far too long the church has allowed organizations like Disney, Coke and Tesla to have much larger dreams than us (in fact, many churches are shamed into thinking small!)

However, when we put a plan out there that, unless God moves it just ain’t gonna happen, it stirs up faith inside of us unlike never before - and when we see God begin to turn dreams into reality, it causes us to dream even bigger dreams—where more people meet Jesus (which I just don’t think is EVER a bad thing!)

With all of that in mind - what is your churches specific strategic plan for the first six months of 2019?

Why would I ask?  Simple - I believe every church on the planet has the potential to DOUBLE in size over the next 3-5 years (most likely by making 2-3 difficult but necessary decisions!)

And yes, this includes YOUR church.

I believe in this so much I am hosting an online event on Tuesday, November 13 from 9:30 - 12:30 (EST) called the Online Double Conference.  (There will be replays on 11-13-18 from 4:30 - 7:30 pm EST and then again on 11-14-18 from 9:30 - 12:30 and 4:30 - 7:30 pm (EST).

In this event we are going to discuss why it’s so hard to make hard decisions - as well as looking at what I call “The Circles of Success” that will give your church a laser like focus on what the next 6-12 months need to look like - as well and diving into whether it’s time for your church to add an additional service—OR even start a new campus.
The early bird price is ONLY $49 (goes up to $79 on 11/8).  And the awesome thing is - you and your entire staff can watch it together (and maybe even some volunteers.)

It’s honestly one of the most practical things we’ve ever put together at The Growth Company - and there isn’t a doubt in my mind that your church will absolutely benefit from this event.

I’m super excited about having my friend Joe Sangl join me for a session as well (there’s never a dull moment with Joe!)

Once again - go here to register (don’t miss out - $49 is a REALLY good deal!)
