Sunday Night Reflections…

Dec 9, 2007

Today was a great day…here are some thoughts before I head off to bed…

  • Let me say it again—THANK YOU to everyone who brought an unwrapped toy and put it under the tree today…I think we were all blown away and the hundreds and hundreds of toys brought—your generosity is going to touch hundreds of lives.
  • One of the toys I saw under the tree was the game “Operation.” I wanted to get it out and start a game in the lobby right there on the spot—but I resisted.
  • It is December? Seriously—it was over 70 degrees outside today and is supposed to get up to 78 later this week! Yes, I know that’s nice…but I would like for it to get cold for a awhile.
  • This post from Ken reminded me of Christmas’s from many moons ago—and I had one of these…I think it was the Ford Bronco.
  • God is stretching me right now and taking me to places I’ve never been—which is both exciting and uncomfortable at the same time.
  • This post from Bob messed me up—it was confirmation to me with what God can do with someone who allows Him to start a fire deep in his soul and then keeps his eyes on Jesus.
  • This post from Tony fired me up—while I am not a Notre Dame fan I loved what their coach had to say, and it reminded me to keep my eyes on winning.
  • I am taking off on Wednesday with a crew from NewSpring to Spartanburg to do some preparation for our Christmas services…and while over there I am taking them to the Beacon—that will be fun!
  • (For those who have no idea what the Beacon is—it is one of those restaurants that you can simulate by going to your local grocery store, getting a bucket of crisco and a straw and slurping it down!)
  • Have I mentioned on this site that our Christmas services will be a PRIME TIME to invite people who do not go to church TO church? Seriously—get them a FREE ticket and tell them they are coming…and if they don’t then tell them you are going to take them to Clemson Boulevard and make them sit in traffic until they agree to come with you!!!
  • Roseangela did an incredible job on, “O Holy Night.” That is, by far, my favorite Christmas song—but she took it to the next level.
  • I had a conversation in our lobby today with a guy who said he had pretty much given up on church—then someone invited him to NewSpring and he’s been here every week sense. That pumps me up!
  • The guy who played “Tex” in the movie “Forest Gump” was at our church today. And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.
  • Charisse is getting big—she is literally outgrowing her swing—when did THAT happen?
  • Speaking of Charisse…her clothing is already getting expensive. She can’t wear any of her blue jeans because the ones that fit her in the waste are too short…and then the ones that are long enough swallow her…so ‘Cretia had to take her clothes to the alterations place just so she could have more than three pairs of pants that will fit her!!!
  • We decorated our Christmas tree yesterday. It was funny because, before it was even decorated, Charisse kept staring at it. I can’t prove it—but I think she kept asking herself, “What in the heck is that doing in here?”
  • The series we are doing after Christmas is going to ROCK…literally…wow…AND if you like guitar hero…this one’s for you!!!
  • Greenville campus is coming together more and more—I will update everyone with a launch date as soon as we have one!
  • We have a fair number of local pastors who want to get together for lunch on the 20th…if you can make it then let me know…and we will be sending out an e-mail with the specifics.

That’s about it for now…going to bed.
