Sunday Night Reflections
I am sitting on my couch getting ready to hit the hay and I have a couple of thoughts I would like to share…
First—running in the heat is flippin’ hard!!! HOLY COW—we did 12 miles this past Saturday and I have to say it was the most difficult run I experienced. (The 16 mile run last week was EASY compared to this one!)
I bought one of those GPS watches on Friday (it is so cool) - it monitors your pace and how far you have gone. Well, I ran the first mile in a 7:58 pace and I knew I was in trouble! By the end of the run I felt like I was barely moving and I was giving everyone running with me a shower due to the sweat that was flying off my body! (Yes—I know—that’s gross!) BTW—I averaged a nine minute mile for the entire run…not bad for a big boy!
Second—I ate Brusters ice cream on Friday and Saturday night…and all the people said, “AMEN!” People—it’s getting warmer in the evenings…this is ice cream weather. I am convinced that one of the reasons daylight savings time exists is so that we can consume more ice cream!
Third—WHAT AN AWESOME SERVICE TODAY! I don’t think we have ever had a Lord’s Supper service at NewSpring where God didn’t move and do something incredible—today was no exception. The service had a different sort of feel…but I loved it. To share in communion with the entire church was awesome.
Fourth—this Wednesday is first Wednesday…remember, we meet at 6:30 for a time of worship and teaching…and it is FUN! AND…this Wednesday night we are giving a sneak peek at what we have coming up for Easter.
Fifth—uh, I think I can say with just about absolute certainty that I am speaking on a passage this Sunday that very few preachers have ever been brave enough to even come close to. I can just about promise you have never heard this text preached on…BUT as we examine Scripture to see how relevant it is…you will not believe how much you can see of yourself in this story.
OK—I’m going to bed!
