NewSpring Church Making History This Weekend

Aug 22, 2013

This weekend we are anticipating a record shattering attendance at every campus...

We are praying for more than 3,000 people to begin a relationship with Jesus...

It's going to be THE BEST WEEKEND in our 13 year history...

And I'm not preaching!

That's right!!  Clayton King, our teaching pastor, will be bringing the message.

So many people are excited about this; however, some may be a bit confused.  After all, if this is going to be one of the most historical weekends in this history of our church then why am I not bringing the message?

It's simple really...as a leader it's not my job to always do the work, but rather to make sure the right people are in the right places so the right things can get accomplished.  And this weekend the right person to bring the message is Clayton.

Let me explain,

In Ephesians 4:11-12 Paul writes..."So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up"

Notice that I highlighted "evangelists."  Evangelism is a spiritual gift given to church leaders for the purpose of building up the church.

Evangelism is a passion of mine, and I do believe it is a spiritual gift I have; however, it is not my primary area of giftedness.

However, I believe Clayton King is one of THE MOST gifted evangelists on the planet.  Every time he preaches somewhere (NewSpring included) the Lord always draws hundreds and hundreds of people to Him through Clayton's preaching.

Clayton has been preaching at NewSpring Church since we were around 100 people or so.  He's been a great friend to me and to our church.  Even before he officially became our teaching pastor he would preach for us once or twice a year.

BUT...in 13 years I've never asked him to come in and preach a purely evangelistic message, one that is specifically focused on the Gospel and calls for people to turn away from their sin and surrender their lives to Christ.  (And yet even when he preaches a message and gives an invitation at the end we always see numerous responses.)

However, this weekend is different!!!  We've prayed, prepared and asked people far from God to join us at NewSpring this weekend...and I wanted to make sure when they arrived here that we had THE MOST GIFTED communicator on the stage to bring the message in the particular area we are praying for.  And, once again, that person is not me...it's Clayton!

Can you imagine how AWESOME this weekend is going to be???

As a church we've worked really hard to make sure that we have room this weekend.  We have overflow seating at every location...and we have added a 6pm Saturday service in Anderson, Greenville, Spartanburg, Florence, Columbia and Greenwood.

So, once again I am asking that all of us do whatever it takes to get people here this weekend.  I promise they will hear the clearest and best presentation of the Gospel they have ever heard!!!
