Five Weight Loss/Nutrition Myths We Often Buy Into

Dec 11, 2017

Myth #1: Carbs are the enemy.

False!  Carbs are your body’s source of energy, especially for active bodies.

Neglecting carbs will leave you tired, sluggish and will affect your performance at the gym.  (Trust me - I did the protein power plan diet once and felt like I had been ran over by a truck!)

The best time to consume carbs are at breakfast and after a workout.

Whole wheat bread, Ezekiel Bread, oats, sweet potatoes, brown rice, jasmine rice are awesome carb sources.

Myth #2: Doing lots of cardio is the best way to lose weight.

False.  Traditional cardio each day will cause you to go into a calorie deficit but long term, having more lean muscle mass helps your body burn more calories at rest.

The healthiest (and BEST) way to lose weight for the long term is a combo of high-intensity cardio and strength training.  And remember, nutrition is 80% of the plan...which leads to...

Myth #3 - "I Work Out--I Can Eat Anything I Want!"

False:  While working out is incredibly beneficial (and essential for maximizing energy levels) - the old saying is true, "You cannot outwork a bad diet!"

The reason I know this is a myth is because it is something I believed and lived by for over a decade.

I would work out like crazy--and see hardly any results at all!  However, since getting incredibly serious about my exercise and my eating plan--I've lost 40 pounds, have more energy than I had 20 years ago--and can actually see my abs for the first time in my life!!  (Yes, that's true--NO, I will not post a picture!)

Myth #4:  You should exercise every day.

False.  When you work out, you break down muscle fibers so they can rebuild stronger.
Doing this, you need to give your body time to recover from exercise.  You should have 1-2 days per week of active recovery rest days, meaning you can be active but not putting stress on your body.

Myth #5:  "This (current physical condition) is just the way I am and the way I will always be!"

Actually - this myth is partially true, but it doesn't have to be.

This is what I used to say years ago when I had a 50 inch waist and weighed over 300 pounds; however, after deciding I didn't want to live that way anymore--and that I was the only one who could actually do anything about my condition--I stopped making excuses and started making progress.

And...if I can do it - you can too!

Which is why I wrote, "I Can Win With Weight--A 90 Day Guide To Looking And Feeling Great."  This eBook will be available for purchase tomorrow and I believe will be the BEST $7 investment you've EVER made as it will walk you through how to approach weight loss with a spiritual perspective--as well as provide you with an eating and exercise plan that, if followed, WILL make a significant difference in your life over the next 90 days!
