Changes at NewSpring
I still can’t get over the services we had at NewSpring Church yesterday!! The energy, the excitement, the passion…WOW!
If you missed it, one of the BIG announcements I made was that our church is switching back to two service times in the morning (9:15 & 11:15) as opposed to the way we are currently doing services (8:30, 10:00 & 11:30.) AND… for the campuses that currently have an evening service at 4:30, that service will move back to 4:15—the 6:00 will stay the same. The three main reasons for doing this are…
#1 – I really do feel as if the two-service model allows us to do more ministry on Sundays! It’s really hard as a church to teach people how to follow Jesus when the process seems rushed/hurried.
#2 – The reason for originally switching to three services was because we were out of room at several of our locations. However, after the launching of new campuses near those locations (as well as some of our portable campuses moving in to permanent buildings) in the next six months that challenge isn’t as big of an issue.
#3 – It will allow us to begin more campuses in 2015! (Something we had not originally planned on doing.)
“Has NewSpring stopped growing and this is just a way to cover it up?” you may be asking.
Nope!
Not at all!
In fact, we grew around 20% in overall attendance this past year (averaging over 31,000 per Sunday!)
“Then why make this decision?” you may be wondering.
I know, it’s crazy…it seems to violate nearly every leadership rule I know. We made the announcement yesterday and are implementing it this coming Sunday (yes, it would have made sense to give people way more time to process.)
Some of our campuses are going to be SLAMMED this coming Sunday.
Some of our campuses are going to have to get incredibly creative in the way we “find” more space.
Trust me…I know there are numerous challenges that come along with this change. However, I want us to be a church that passionately carries the name of Jesus and has the time on Sunday’s to allow for more to happen than we currently have in place.
“Will we see attendance dip because of this?”
I honestly don’t think so.
In fact, I think we will see an increase (this series on Grace that begins this Sunday is something ALL of us…and all of our friends... need!)
I think we will launch more campuses.
I think we will see more people reached for Christ.
I think we will see passion for Christ and His church at all time highs.
I think we will see the reality of the statement “The Best Is Yet To Come” begin taking place right in front of our eyes.
So, let’s do this NewSpring Church!
Help us get the word out to as many people as possible about this change…and then let’s show up Sunday with a sense of anticipation unlike we’ve ever had before!!!
