Yep!
Same times - 9:15, 11:15, 5:00 & 6:45!
I love what Michael said on his blog, “I don’t want to get to heaven and meet all those believers from China, who meet in secret at the risk of death, and tell them that we canceled church because it might be slightly dangerous to drive through 1 inch of snow or ice.”
If you think it may be dangerous to get out in the snow…come to one of the evening services. BUT folks…it’s not a blizzard—it’s snow! :-)
I never will forget January 23 of 2000. (Yes, I DO remember that day just like it was yesterday!) I had stayed up all night watching the weather channel and begging God to make the ice storm stay away, but, He felt the need to send it anyway. (Hey, HE IS GOD—i am not!)
It was horrible…power all over Anderson County was out…and I was devastated. This was week two of NewSpring Church meeting, we had around 115 people there the week before, and for some reason I thought this was going to kill us.
I made a decision…I wrote on a piece of paper, “CHURCH CANCELED” and then began my walk towards the building we were meeting in to post it on the door. (Because that is what churches in the South do—one flake of snow and we freak out and cancel everything!)
When I got there Joe and Jenn Sangl were sitting in front of the building in their Chevy Cavalier (NOT the four wheel drive kind) and Melea, their three month old, and they were READY for church! (Crazy northeners!)
They asked, “Are we having church?” I said, “ABSOLUTELY,” as I wadded up the piece of paper and put it back in my pocket. We had no power in the building…so we put candles all over the place and went acoustic worship…oh yeah—we had around 65 people show up and I will have to say that it was one of my favorite memories of NewSpring’s time at Anderson College.
OK…wow…I have no idea where in the heck that story came from…I guess I decided to just get sentimental. :-) Anyway, we will be having church tomorrow—can’t wait!!! See you there!!!
