A Note To Single Moms (And Those Who Feel Like One)

Sep 25, 2015

Thank you!
Seriously!
I know there are days it seems like you don't know how you are going to hold things together.
I know there are days you really wrestle with bitterness, anger and/or resentment towards your ex, or maybe even God because your ex did not leave you, they passed away.
I know there are time you sit alone, crying, wondering where your next ounce of strength is going to come from.
And I really felt encouraged to write you today and let you know that though I do not know exactly what you are going through, God knows, God cares--and I really do believe He will give you the strength and courage to do what is right for your family.
As a mother, I know you are most likely to undervalue yourself. Parents do not see a whole lot of "immediate fruit!"
However, I would plead with you to understand what you are doing (being a mother) is so important--and really makes a difference.
Mary, Jesus' mom, was a "single mom." Most theologians believed that Joseph (Jesus earthly father) passed away at some point after Jesus was born because he is not mentioned in the story of the life of Jesus. However, we see Jesus in John 19:25-27 pause in His payment of the sins of the world to honor and take care of His mother.
Mammas matter to Jesus!
I only knew my mother for 12 years; however, I am sitting at this keyboard right now writing this encouragement to you because of the influence she had on me. I can still remember her smile, I can still remember her laugh. I can still remember her believing in me when I was NOT making it easy for her to do so.
Moms--you matter. On behalf of your child (who does not understand what you are going through) - THANK YOU!!! I am a man who can testify that your calling is not an easy one--but I believe it's one of the most important ones in the world, and the One who called you to this (being a mom) will see you through it.
Thank you--and don't give up!
