A Few Thoughts On Labor Day

Sep 5, 2005

#1 - Wow—yesterday was AWESOME! For those who are wondering—NewSpring made a commitment to donate $5 per person for everyone who was in attendance yesterday.

The result—4,009 people came through the doors of our church—yeah God! And like I said yesterday, sending a check is not the only thing we will be doing—stay tuned for more details.

#2 - The bloopers video we showed yesterday was one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life—especially the part where Lee, our worship leader, was put in the frame with Napoleon Dynamite.

My friend Ken Wilson will be posting the video on his site sometime on Tuesday if you want to see it again…Lee’s reaction to the video is on there now. (We were secretly filming him—he had no idea that was coming!)

#3 - My buddy Sarge had one of the most awesome quotes ever on his blog—if you are a pastor or a leader of any sorts then you will love this!!!

“Just remember: Every baseball team could use a man who plays every position perfectly, never strike out and never makes an error. The trouble is, there’s no way to make him lay down his hot dog and come out of the stands.” -Illustrations Unlimited

#4 - Our churches new website is operational! You have GOT to check this out, in my opinion—the people who worked on this (Matt, Jason, Gizz, & Jared) did an awesome job! There will be more to come with this site—but it is an excellent start.

#5 - For those who attend or are members of NewSpring, I went & walked around the building on Friday evening & had a sense of awe and expectation! Wow—I could just see thousands of people coming to church who had never heard the message of Jesus Christ. I could see hundreds and hundreds of children being ministered to in a way they could understand…and the next week bringing their parents back to church! I could see thousands of people who have struggled with acceptance all of their lives finding healing in the context of community! (Our home groups ministry is AWESOME!!!) I could see thousands of people saying, “Jesus Christ is my Savior & Lord,” as they were about to be baptized. I could see it all—and I haven’t really been able to sleep since! Only a few more months!!!

#6 - Mark this date on your calendar…September 25, if you have a friend or family member that does not know Christ—get them to NewSpring THAT DAY! We are currently designing a Gospel presentation that will be…let’s just use the term “unforgettable!” And make plans to be early that day…it’s going to be intense from the beginning to the end.

#7 - Clemson students—as I said yesterday @ church, if someone will bring Jad Dean to NewSpring this Sunday I will take that dude out to lunch and buy him whatever he wants to eat! SIX FIELD GOALS, hey Jad, YOU are the man! Go Tigers!

Happy Labor Day!
