2. Am I Operating Under Authority or Mine?
Once again Matthew 10.1 the Bible says “He called His twelve disciples to Him and gave them authority.”
One of the reasons I believe we’re not seeing amazing things happen in our churches is that we spend too much time trying to be amazing rather than pointing to the one who is amazing.
If he has called us into ministry then he has given us the authority and the power we need to do the ministry in which we are called. This recently hit me like a ton of bricks toward the end of a message I was preaching when I felt the Holy Spirit lead me to give an invitation. This was very weird an “invitation” type of message. I dismissed the thought and continued to preach but the Holy Spirit wouldn’t let this go. So I began wrestling with Him in my mind and actually asked the question “God what if I give the invitation and no one responds. He clearly spoke to me and said, “That’s not your responsibility. I’m telling you to do this” SO…I gave the invitation…and people responded.
We’ve got to learn to operate under His authority. If He has called us to do something then He will make a way for it to be done. I can do nothing significant on my own but under His authority, operating under His power, and looking at His potential and not mine I believe that doing so will cause a leader to be unstoppable.
When HE says to do something…we should do it…HE REIGNS…and when we rely on who HE IS rather than who we are the table is set for amazing things to happen!
One more thing on this pastors—Isaiah 55:10-11 promises us that if we will preach HIS Word…that HIS authority is with us. Just my opinion…but if we will spend more time preaching what HE wants rather than what we perceive is cool…HE will do things that will absolutely BLOW OUR MIND!
