Five Random Things For Leaders That I Think Might Be Worth Your Time…

May 17, 2012

I’ve written A LOT on this site over the past several years…and some things that I’ve written about keep popping into my mind and so I thought today I would share them with you.

#1 - I travel with a group of people everywhere I go!  I’ve had people ask me before why I “roll with an entourage,” I actually wrote about that here...but the sort answer is that I’m just trying to be like Jesus!  :-)  After all, He didn’t do ministry alone!  AND…pastors/church leaders, traveling with people is one of THE BEST WAYS to disciple them (you know, like Jesus did!)

#2 - Nearly every leadership Q & A I am involved in people ask me about how I deal with critics.  The short answer is that we NEED somebody speaking into our lives…but we can’t be obsessed with everybody who has something to say about our lives.  I did a series of posts called listening to your coaches & not your critics that I think may be helpful if you haven’t read them.

#3 - I know so many young leaders who say they want to be “mentored” by someone…and yet when they get time with the person they want to be mentored by they spend all of their time talking and telling the mentor how incredible they are.  I quickly discovered that this was my temptation as a young leader many years ago and so I developed my ”Five Rules In Meeting With A Mentor” (right here) that may be helpful if you have not yet checked them out.

#4 - In EVERY leadership setting I am in I always have people ask me what are the best leadership books I’ve ever read…and I’ve read dozens of really great ones; however, the four that I always come back to are…

#5 - Here is a post I did on some quotes that I keep nearby that I often look to for inspiration and motivation.

Hope some of that helps!
