Where Do I Begin?

Jun 1, 2006

OK…wow…my mind is filled with so many thoughts…so here we go…

First of all—do you like the new design? We are still in the process of tweaking it…if you would like to comment or offer a suggestion you can go to Ken’s site here and help us out.

A huge “thank you” to everyone who prayed for our lead team while we were away on our retreat. God showed up in a HUGE way. I have always said that once we arrived at the building that we will not have arrived at where God wants us to be—AND that became so obvious on this get-a-way. Folks…I can’t say a lot right now—but I can say this—some AWESOME. GOD INSPIRED things are heading our way…some things that have been a dream for years and years are NOW going to start happening.

I will share one thing—we are going to be adding some more children’s space this summer. One of the biggest “problems” we have faced since moving into our new facilities is the number of kids that come every week…so we are going to do some creative things this summer to make more room. We decided a long time ago that kids would come first at NewSpring…and that adults WILL always sacrifice when it comes to reaching kids and youth; after all, the church is only one generation away from being extinct.

(It always has bothered me when a church will spend more on an organ or stained glass windows that they will on their nursery!)

Clayton will be preaching this Sunday…and you DO NOT want to miss it! I love hearing him speak…God always works through him to encourage me at times…and rip my face off at other times.

Where will I be? RUNNING! This Sunday is the marathon day…we’ve been training for this since January and I am PUMPED. I am also OCD about everything…I am so careful walking down steps or crossing the street…I don’t want anything to happen…we have trained and Sunday I will pound out 26.2 miles—PRAY HARD and then be here on June 25th as I do a message comparing running a marathon to a walk with Christ. AND PRAY FOR US!!! I have heard stories of people passing out in marathons and losing control of their bodily functions…and I just know if that happens to me that somehow it will wind up on CNN!!!

Oh yeah, if you are a pastor, or you love one…then read this...it is the honest outpouring of a man who has been a pastor…but is taking a break…and everything he says is so true!

Random thought…Chic Fil A now has my FAVORITE coffee in the world—their dark roast is AWESOME! (Please don’t send any Starbucks comments…you will only cause bitterness in my life—we do not have one in Anderson. NO—I am NOT joking about that…and YES I am angry!) BUT…Chic Fil A fills the gap quite well.

One more thing…on this new site—if you want to send in an e-mail or a comment then go to the feedback page (scroll down and it will be on the left.)

That’s about it for now! OH YEAH—I almost forgot—this dude is going to be in town today…and I was “Simply Strategic” in my T-shirt selection…you might see a picture later.
