Thoughts From 37,000 Feet…

Dec 8, 2006

The stewardess just came on and told us that we are at a cruising altitude of 37,000 feet—my mind is reeling from the day of INTENSIVE leadership training I have undergone…AND I just finished a cup of Starbucks before getting on the plane…and so the following thoughts are going through my mind.

  • My rear end is numb…these seats hurt!!!
  • This plane was made for people who have an average height of 4’8”.  I have NO flippin’ leg room!
  • We just hit some sort of air pocket and I think I need that complimentary bag!!!
  •  American Airlines no longer offers snacks on their flights—cheapskates!  (I’m hungry!)
  • There has never been a flight to leave Chicago on time!!!
  • It’s nice to be coming back to SC…we received six inches of snow where we were today…and the wind chill was ZERO!  (To those who are not from the south…that would shut our town down for WEEKS!)

Now on to some leadership thoughts…well…actually I will be sharing some of these leadership thoughts with our staff in our monthly all staff meeting on Monday…so I may post them later OR provide a link so you can listen to the talk that I deliver to the staff.

I can say this—I was both inspired and challenged as a leader.  It was so wonderful to sit and talk with people from different backgrounds and denominations…but all had the same goal…to reach people for Christ.  It’s so nice when Christian leaders can get together and learn from one another—rather than bickering and/or blogging about one another.

For those at NewSpring Church…please pray that God will continue to stretch and grow me like he did the past couple of days!  I am convinced that my life and my leadership are not going to be the same IF I apply what I learned through this experience…so you can pray for that as well.  Thanks!!!
