Sunday Night Reflections—WOW!!!

Aug 12, 2007

Let me begin by saying that this has been one of the craziest and hardest weeks of my life.  I have struggled more with temptation this week…allowed a couple of situations to really stress me out…gotten angry at people for no reason…and to top it off someone tried to break into my house on Saturday morning.  The enemy has been working overtime…saying all of that I now know why—

  • I am trying to wrap my mind around what happened today and I can’t—I am WIRED up and about to flippin’ explode.  Here is what is going through my mind.
  • 277 people received Christ at NewSpring today!  That makes 387 in the past two weeks!
  • I’ve been in church work since 1990 and I have NEVER seen anything like this—God is SO at work among us.
  • I know some people may doubt these numbers—but when Jesus said what He said in Matthew 9:37-38 and then Acts 2:41 happened—if He is the same God (Hebrews 13:8) then isn’t He capable of doing that again…or are we too sophisticated for Him to move that way anymore?
  • THIS IS WHY GOD MADE THE CHURCH—to make the name of JESUS famous, not to sit around and discuss whether or not the church should pursue purchasing the 50 watt light bulbs or the 100 watt!!!
  • This NEVER gets old!!!  And folks—this makes everything WORTH IT!!!  The critics, the sleepless nights, the stressful days—EVERYTHING…seeing people step across the line of faith and confess Jesus as Lord NEVER gets old!!!

Some may be asking, “Well, what are you going to do with those people now?”  Several thoughts here…

  • I love the way Northpoint says, “Think steps, not programs.”  One of the things we DO NOT DO here at NewSpring is get people in some program that makes Matthew 23:15 come true here.
  • Trust me…NO ONE wants to see them step in the right direction more than us—BUT, you never see Jesus change someone’s life and then try to enroll them in some program…it takes TIME for people to mature in their faith!
  • SO…with that in mind, I will be speaking on the next step for those who have received Christ need to take in a few weeks.  Trust me—it will be unforgettable.
  • AND…here at NewSpring we believe that the same Holy Spirit that drew that person to God is ALSO capable of leadership in that person’s life.  (Why is it that we trust Him so much for salvation…but afterwards we feel like we need to take over?)

NewSpring—hang on!!!  God, for some reason, has chosen to move in this time—and He’s not even close to being done yet.  I said at the beginning of this series that I am praying for 1,000 salvations…and I am still believing God for that number.  PRAY HARD and invite like crazy…with over 5,000 names on our walls…1k should be a walk in the park for God!!!

HE IS ABLE!!!
