Sunday Night Reflections

Oct 19, 2008

WOW…what a day at NewSpring Church—here are a few things running through my mind…

  • Today was the first day NewSpring Church met in THREE locations…Anderson, Greenville and Florence!
  • We had our largest non Easter/Christmas attendance today in our history—10,429 people.  (189 of those were in Florence…more about that tomorrow)
  • We ran out of seats at the 11:15 service at the Anderson campus & had to put people in the lobby.
  • If you normally come to the 11:15…we are asking begging you to switch up for the next several weeks and choose a different service, preferably the 4:15.
  • AND…if you will come to the 4:15 we will give your kids ice cream AND you a gift certificate to take them to dinner somewhere after church!!!
  • People met Christ today…that NEVER gets old—EVER!
  • Women have a hard time hearing, “You are beautiful.”  We spent a lot of time on that issue today…and I am praying some women were set free.
  • The reason women struggle with feeling beautiful is because they view themselves through the filter of the world and not through the filter of Scripture.
  • Today I challenged women to ask Jesus, “Let me see me as you see me.”
  • “THE KING IS ENTHRALLED BY YOUR BEAUTY!!!”
  • I really felt led to take a lot of time to encourage the single women today…I think the “crumb” illustration went over well.
  • For those who weren’t with us today…we dealt with the fact that every woman wants to feel beautiful, most don’t…so we dug into why that problem exists and then how to solve it!
  • Next week we will be dealing with the question, “How can I become a godly wife?”  I promise there will be tension in the room (which USUALLY means there is CONVICTION in the room!)

On a personal note…
NewSpring Church…it’s days like today that completely overwhelm me.  I literally am amazed at all that God is doing.

Tonight I had this thought as I was standing in the balcony of our Anderson campus watching Lee lead worship, “He’s brought us so far!”

God has been SO good to us…He’s allowing us to LIVE IN A MODERN DAY MIRACLE.  We were told that what we were attempting in Anderson, Greenville and Florence would not work…

But it IS working…lives are being changed…hell is becoming LESS crowded because of what God is doing through our church.

He’s been good to us…BUT I still feel our best days are ahead of us, NOT behind us.  HOLD ON TO YOUR FORK…

AND do all that you can to bring people with you next week…
