Sunday Night Reflections

Jul 6, 2008

OK, so I am exhausted but excited…and I am trying to wrap my mind around all that went on today…here are my thoughts…

  • Rose did an amazing job leading us in worship today…the 4th service was both intense AND incredible!
  • I love casting vision.
  • Jesus loves church—we should love it as well…and when “it” is hard to love we should just remember that we probably aren’t that easy to love either.
  • As I said today—I’m not leaving NewSpring Church!  I love it here and am committed to seeing what God wants to do over the long haul.
  • Next week we begin “You Asked For It” by addressing the subject, “What Is Considered Sexual Sin?”  Uh…yeah, it’s going to fun!
  • Here’s a blog post I did last week listing what I will be covering each week…INVITE your friends!!!
  • I was able to spend some time last night and today with Pete Hise, the senior pastor at Quest Community Church.  He’s an amazing leader who has a passion for Jesus that is contagious!  LOVE THIS GUY!
  • By the way—Pete talks about our church at Quest often…and the other week a lady from there sent NewSpring a check for $350 saying that the Lord led her to sponsor a kid going to youth camp.  THAT is KINGDOM MINDED!
  • I learned a lesson today that God has been trying to drill into my head all week long…I will blog about it later on this week.
  • OK, I know I’m a cry baby…but could you seriously please pray for my back again…it is hurting worse than it has in a long time!
  • Next week we begin NewSpring Greenville.  Seriously, I never dreamed that this would happen!  God’s dreams are always so much larger than ours!
  • The Gauntlet, our youth trip, is heading our way QUICKLY!  I can’t wait to hang out with our teens and learn more about how they worship and why they worship that way!
  • I am COMPLETELY COMMITTED to doing whatever it takes to funding the next generation instead of fighting them.  (Andy Stanley quote!)  If we are going to be a church that is willing to go to unfamiliar places—we need to be willing to embrace what is unfamiliar!
  • The previous generation has never worshiped Jesus the way their parents worshiped Him…what’s next for the church?
  • I want a church that causes hell to be less crowded!
  • We had a guy (Mike) serving today on our security team…the thing that is amazing about this is he had a tumor removed from his brain a week and a half ago and was serving today—incredible!
  • I want a church that is willing to go where no one else is going and willing to attempt things that no one else is trying.
  • Yes, as a matter of fact it was a little tense when I spoke about serving and giving today…loved it!
  • Let me say it again—we don’t give because God needs our money—we give because we need to be blessed…and, oh yeah—JESUS said what He did in Matthew 6:19-21 and Matthew 6:24!
  • An awesome, godly woman made me a seven layer coconut cake tonight—it was incredible.
  • Oh yeah…to the staff, I brought it home!!!  Sorry.  Actually, I’m not!!!  :-)  Yummy!
  • I love our church!

I’ve GOT to go to bed!!!  G’nite!
