Here are a few thoughts from the day…
- “I Want My Mullet Back” was definitely a hit! (Yes, we did that song…NO, it is not country music…I would classify it as Southern Rock!)
- Yes, I did have a mullet when I was younger…with a perm in the back. NO, there are not any pictures!!! NO, I would not tell you if there were.
- Thought the message today was MUCH NEEDED…I don’t ever want us to become “the perfect church for perfect people.”
- The thing that scares me the most about the text we examined today was that the older brother never came in the house…thus, he was lost. Makes Matthew 7:21-23 more urgent!!!
- I literally prayed this morning that God would allow me to preach today without fear…and I can honestly say that I felt a freedom today that I’ve never felt since beginning NewSpring. God is rocking my world right now…
- Whenever I preach a message like I did today I know that I will be misquoted, misrepresented and misunderstood…which used to scare me BUT now I take comfort in knowing that it’s my job to deliver the message and God’s job to work it out in those who hear.
- I thought all four services went well today…but the fourth service tonight was on fire. I was exhausted when I walked out on stage to preach…but when the lights came up I completely forgot about being tired and decided to go for it…and, by the way…that’s the one we will be putting on the net.
- Please keep me in your prayers…it’s been a crazy week! AND this next week I am traveling all over the place—LITERALLY. You can follow me on Twitter if you like…I will try to update it as I can.
- NewSpring…I love this place! I love what God is doing here. I love the fact that He isn’t finished yet. I love the fact that lives are being changed. AND…I love the fact that hell shakes because our church exists.
- I really do believe the best is yet to come.

- Pray for me as I travel tomorrow…I have two speaking engagements this week (highly unusual)...one on the West Coast and one on the East Coast…lots of time on a plane!!! (And they get really mad when I try to run up and down the aisle!!!)
- I HATE LEAVING my wife and little girl!!! :-(
- That’s it for now…got to get up at 3:45…have a date with a treadmill. (Yes, I am a freak!)
