Today at NewSpring Church I heard one of THE BEST messages I’ve ever heard on personal evangelism. Clayton brought it…here are some of the things that really resonated with me…
- “We’re in the south—where the tea is sweet and the chicken is fried…and EVERYONE is a Christian because, at some point in their life they darkened the doors of a church.”
- “Next week (Easter) is one of the biggest religious seasons of the year—and people are VERY likely to come to church IF invited.” (AMEN!!! Many of our friends and family members are ONE INVITATION AWAY from coming to church and meeting Christ!)
- “The stakes have never been higher when it comes to personal evangelism. The consequences are dire of our friends who don’t know Christ.”
- “We must regain a sense of urgency when it comes to reaching people for Christ.”
- “The Gospel is not ours—it belongs to God.”
- “Does the church really want to see His kingdom come…or do we want to hold on to our own kingdom?”
- “When it came to reaching my friends for Christ I really did believe that they were going to hell without Christ…AND I CARED!”
- “If you do not have a sense of urgency to reach people with the Gospel then all you are is a spectator.”
- “Jesus is much more concerned with reaching people where they are than honoring man made traditions.”
- “Religious professionals will spend 10 hours reading a theology book but will not spend 10 minutes on their knees praying for people who do not know Christ.”
Springers…I SERIOUSLY believe God is going to do awesome things here at NewSpring Church this coming weekend. Let’s do our part to bring three with us...and watch what God can do!
In other news…
- It was nice to have another Sunday off from speaking…I took a crew down to Buckhead Church this morning and had a blast.
- Jeff, their campus pastor, is one of the finest men on the planet. He was so generous to us in regards to his time…and showed us around and answered tons of questions.
- I am more convinced than ever after seeing their campus that great things are in store for our Greenville location.
- This place was closed for lunch…but we did get to eat here and it was awesome!
- I’m a little jealous…someone in Gary’s church bought their staff iphones last week—hey Gary, where’s the love bro?
- If you didn’t get to check out this video from Tony’s blog last week you need to—it seems a pastor our west had a member visit NewSpring…and he had some interesting things to say! :-)
- Pray for Scott’s son…he needs hair!
- While at Buckhead today I saw this guys office...but he wasn’t there. I am beginning to wonder if he is a real person!
- Ed Young has stepped into the blogging world!
- It looks like I am going to get to hang out with this guy in the next few weeks…looking forward to that!
Please keep me in your prayers this week in regards to the message for this weekend. I am PUMPED as we will be taking a look at Jesus in Scripture that typically gets glossed over…should be fun!
