Sunday Night Reflections

Jan 13, 2008

We had an awesome day today…here are a few thoughts before I head to bed…

  • I seriously love our church, and I love what God has called us to do…there is no place on planet earth that I would rather be. NewSpring will be eight years old on Wednesday…I can’t believe it.
  • I LOVED the dulcimer in the worship service today…I am seriously fascinated with that instrument. I wished I could play it…AND the banjo. Don’t ask me “why” in regards to the banjo…I have no idea…I just think that it’s a cool instrument.
  • Today’s message was deeply personal to me because, had it not been for godly people who were willing to ask me the tough questions, it would have been so easy for me to walk away from Christ. But they make sure that Hebrews 10:24-25, even though written 2,000 years ago, lives today.
  • Everyone needs someone in their lives that will ask them the tough question in love…I can look back over my life and there are so many times I WISHED someone would have said, “DON’T DO THAT!” I think our biggest regrets in life could have possibly been avoided if we would have only had someone who was willing to do what Jesus said in Matthew 18:15-17!
  • If you didn’t get to sign up for a group…but you still want to then you can go here to our on-line sign up form.
  • The second service today was SLAMMED…every seat in the house was taken, the balcony was completely full…it was an amazing sight. Our total attendance for the day was over 8,800—AMAZING.
  • I said it in all four services today—let me reemphasize it here...if you know SOMEONE that does not know Christ…PLEASE make sure they are here in two weeks (January 27th) as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
  • I SERIOUSLY believe that the 27th COULD be one of the most POWERFUL days of worship and celebration AND people coming to Christ that our church has ever seen! SO…GET PEOPLE HERE!
  • Oh yeah…next week we are going to be talking about the next thing we need to do to “Crank It Up” in our personal walks with Jesus…we have covered a quiet time (here’s the link if you need help getting started) and groups—what we will be dealing with this coming Sunday, I think, is one of the MOST IMPORTANT things we will ever deal with in life…because…well…you’ll just have to wait and see.
  • I will be repeating this 1,000 times…but on Super Bowl weekend (that is three weeks from today) we are going to be moving our Sunday night services to Saturday night…this is for ONE WEEK ONLY...the next week we will resume our normal schedule!
  • Yes, I am seriously considering doing another marathon. Maybe in December…not sure yet though.
  • I have read two books this month so far!!! My goal of reading 20 of them is looking attainable so far.
  • Yes, I am sad that the Dallas Cowboys lost…bummer.
  • When I got home tonight Charisse wanted to play on my computer. (I explained to her that this machine will be obsolete by the time she is three…she didn’t seem to get it.) THEN she became fascinated with my book bag and wanted to slobber on it. She’s so dang cute!
  • Unleash is coming soon…we are REALLY getting amped up around here about it. More details coming later this week.
  • There is a new blog that will be tracking the progress of our Greenville campus…you can check it out here. We are PUMPED about what we believe God is getting ready to do in Greenville…and we are seriously excited about what He’s leading us to do to make HIS name famous across the Upstate…and then beyond.
