Sunday Night Reflections

Jan 6, 2008

Some thoughts on the day…

  • Here is the link I spoke of on our website that you can go to if you want to begin a walk with God and need a jump start. There is also a reading plan here that will take you through the entire Bible in one year! GO FOR IT!!!
  • I said it in all four services today and I want to reemphasize it here…YOU and I are personally responsible for our walk with God…and if we are not at a place that we desire to be spiritually then we’ve got to take action!
  • TEN MINUTES! (If you were there then you understand…if not then listen to the podcast.)
  • Yes, at one time I REALLY did have to wear a size 50 pants! For those who were convicted today in regards to where you are physically (which is also a spiritual issue) my encouragement and challenge is DO SOMETHING, stop making excuses! If I can lose weight and get into shape…so can you. (ESPECIALLY TO THE PASTORS WHO ARE READING THIS!)
  • THE BEST thing we can do to continually crank it up in our walk with Christ is to spend intentional time connecting with God on a daily basis!
  • I thought the band smoked, “Livin’ on a Prayer” today—nothing like a little 80’s rock!
  • I love the 80’s—let’s bring them back!!! JUST KIDDING…no pom pom hair OR parachute pants next week—I’m serious!!!
  • What was your favorite 80’s movie? Mine were, “The Breakfast Club, Rambo and Young Guns I & II.”
  • Next week we will be talking about a subject that is essential to crank up are personal walk with God—can’t wait!
  • The girls basketball team I help coach has a game tomorrow night (Monday) at 6:30. I have had a blast so far in my limited interaction with these ladies…and they are SERIOUS about wanting to win. I thought I was competitive!!! WOW!
  • I cannot begin to describe what God has been showing me lately. BUT…I can tell you this. We’ve decided to put the sex series we had planned on hold because I really feel the Lord taking us in a different direction right now. I think the series after this COULD result in moving NewSpringers from attenders into people who have a PASSION to change the WORLD!
  • The above paragraph…I MEANT THAT LAST LINE!
  • Pastors/church planters—don’t EVER be afraid to change direction when the Holy Spirit speaks clearly! It will take extra work…but when you and I speak out of the overflow rather than the “good idea” I just believe Jesus will honor that.
  • I am beginning a new series of blog posts coming out this week entitled, “What I wish someone had told me before I began NewSpring Church” specifically designed for church planters/pastors.

That’s about it—time to put Charisse to bed and then turn in myself. :-)
