Pastor P

Sunday Night Reflections

Aug 19, 2007

There are days as a pastor when you wonder, “Why in the world do I do this?”

TODAY WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE DAYS!!!

In fact, today was one of the days I was saying on my way home, “This is why I do what I do!”  I will be honest, I am more tired than I have been in a long time…and my head hurts REALLY bad…but days like today PUMP ME UP in regards to what God has called me to do.

First of all—thanks to everyone who participated in our food drive.  WOW!  Folks, I can’t tell you how proud I am of our church.  You guys stepped it up BIG TIME…so much so that we had to unload one of the food trailers because the amount of food that you guys put in it nearly caused the tires to explode!  It looks like we are going to be able to fill a couple of food pantries in our community through your amazing generosity!

Secondly—we had over 8,000 at church today.  The second service was SLAMMED…we even had people sitting in the atrium.  Tony has some thoughts about the service and some pictures here.

Thirdly—the entire Clemson football team showed up today, as well as several of their coaches.  I have always respected Coach Bowden and the stand he takes for Jesus.  I have been in his office and right on his desk is a Bible that is literally falling apart…it has been well traveled.  I automatically thought when seeing it, “If your Bible is falling apart then your life is not!”

Fourthly (is that a word?) - I was moved in every single service today when hundreds of people literally poured forward to write down the name of the people they are going to bring to church with them next week.  Folks…I cannot even begin to communicate how passionate I am about those who are disconnected from God making that connection with Him through Jesus!

Fifthly -  Let me say this again—GET PEOPLE HERE NEXT WEEK!  I honestly think it will be one of the most simple presentations of the Gospel we have ever put together.  AND…if possible…please either come to the 4:15 or the 6:00 service!!!  We are praying for HUNDREDS of people to receive Christ.

That is about it for now…I am tired and ready for bed…I love you guys!
