Staff Meeting Yesterday Was Interesting…

Sep 6, 2006

OK—so we had a discussion in staff meeting yesterday that I didn’t expect to have for another year…

Let me back up—in January of this past year, before we moved into the building, I was sitting in the sanctuary one evening looking at all of the chairs and thinking, “WOW—it’s going to take a lot of people to fill up these chairs.” I actually had the thought, “Were we thinking to big?”

After this Sunday we discovered quite the opposite—we were thinking too small!

This past Sunday we had 5,973 people in church…and the two morning services were SLAMMED. This is an AWESOME “problem!”

The new building we are designing is going to have an “overflow” area that will hold around 1,200 people…but we are quite a way from having that done…and we need to create room because…

Get this—the formula for growth is this—empty seats at optimal inviting hours equals growth. The more empty seats we have at 9:15 and 11:15—the more people we can reach for Christ. Statistics clearly show that unchurched people are more likely to visit a church on Sunday at these times…and so…

Here is what I am asking…we need to create as many seats at 9:15 and 11:15 as possible…so…I am asking all of our NewSpring peeps to consider switching to Sunday nights at 6:00 for the next eight weeks. We are anticipating a record number of visitors over the next two months…and as many of you that can help us out will be much appreciated.

Remember this—I am not asking you to stop coming on Sunday morning…I am asking you to prayerfully consider giving up a space on Sunday morning so that someone who does not know Christ can have a parking place and a seat. By doing this—you will be impacting lives for eternity. AND be here on Sunday nights—trust me, Sunday nights are electric!!!

Isn’t this awesome? Get this—we have already maximized the space in our building and we have only been here seven months…how awesome is that? God is doing some amazing work—and the best is yet to come.

One more thing…BE HERE TONIGHT at 6:30…it’s going to rock!
