How Should A Christian Respond To The Supreme Court’s Decision On Gay Marriage?

Jul 9, 2015

On Friday, June 26 the Supreme Court of the United States legalized marriage for same sex couples all across the United States... and along with the decision came huge celebrations as well as thunderous condemnation.

I was in my office working on my message about the Charleston tragedy when the decision was announced, and I thought my phone was going to explode from all the text messages from people who were essentially asking, "what do we do now?"

It's been "interesting" over the past few weeks to see the reaction of the Christian community at large on this issue.

There are some who say this is "the end" and that God's wrath is upon us... one popular Christian leader even proclaimed that lightning was probably going to strike the White House because it was lit up in rainbow colors on the evening the decision was finalized.

Others are saying it is time Christians get past their "old-fashioned" ideas and step into a culture that is way more "progressive" than Scripture allows.

And yet, many others are simply stunned and are left wondering how a Christian should respond.

This Sunday at NewSpring Church we will be speaking to this subject in what I am anticipating to be one of the most memorable services we've ever had in our history.

There is a solution!  There is a way to properly deal with the Supreme Court decision!  There is something that CAN be done that WILL make our country better than it has ever been...but...it might not be what you think!

There is no reason to be confused, angry or hopeless in regards to what has taken place; in fact, I believe there is a reason to be in a season of expectation unlike the church has ever seen.  I cannot speak for every church in America, but I can speak for ours... and I will be doing so this Sunday in a clear and unmistakable way.

I love my church!  See you Sunday!
