Finding Your Calling

Sep 4, 2009

One of the most asked questions I receive is, “Pastor P, what does God want me to do with my life?”

AND…I think it is a very fair question.  There are WAY too many people on this planet who have settled for what they CAN do rather than what they are CALLED to do!

BUT…how do you know that calling?  Great question…

Last week I traveled to Miami with a crew here from NewSpring Church and Lee and Roseangela (worship leaders at our Anderson campus) were along.

Everywhere we went they were singing…

EVERYWHERE!

In restaurants, in the airport…walking around downtown.   I’ve never heard two people sing quite as much…

(I tried to start singing along with them…and they obviously didn’t appreciate my incredible musical abilities!!!)

I was listening to them sing in the airport on Saturday night when it hit me…they HAVE to sing because it is what God placed inside of them…and when He puts something inside of you and continually feeds it…it eventually has to come out!

That’s the way it is with me…I find myself preaching all of the time…in the shower, riding down the road…even when I wake up in the middle of the night.  I used to think I was crazy until I finally realized…God has put that inside of me…and to try and hold it in would simply be wrong.

So…what has He put inside of you?  (Jeremiah 20:9…you can’t deny what He’s put inside of you…it’s a FIRE!!!)  What is it in life that you absolutely enjoy doing?  What is it that you happen to do well?  What is it that breaks your heart?  Wrestling with these three questions will put you on track to discover what it is that HE created you for.

Trust me…it’s worth the time…DON’T WASTE YOUR LIFE settling for what is easy when you can accomplish so much more!

OR…another way of asking this is, “What would you be willing to attempt for God if you KNEW you could not fail?”  (I wrote about that here if you didn’t read it!)

Many times it’s NOT that God isn’t speaking…but rather we know the answer and are afraid to follow Him!  (Hebrews 11:6!)

What is it He’s calling you to do…we’ve only got one shot at life…might as well live it with no regrets!
