“Butt!”

Jan 9, 2009

Charisse said “butt” last night!

BUT (no pun intended)...she didn’t get in trouble because…she was repeating something she heard me say!

If happened after dinner…we left the restaurant and were walking to the car…and the wind was really blowing…and it was cold…so I said, “Daddy has to get you in the car quick because he’s freezing his butt off.”  (Which I technically don’t think has ever happened to a human being…I just grew up hearing my dad say it & so I say it all of the time.)
That’s when she looked at me and said “butt!”

Two thoughts popped in my mind at that point.

#1 - She is literally going to repeat everything she hears me say.  If I say it then she will say it because she trusts that whatever I say is ok for her to repeat.  My words are literally becoming her words!
#2 - I want my relationship with the Lord to be like that…HE is my Father…and I want to continually hear His voice and repeat what He says!  (Pastors, our sermons are A LOT BETTER when we focus on what HE is saying rather than what we feel like we need to say.)

I don’t need to be afraid to repeat what MY FATHER says.  His Word changes lives…and the more time I spend with Him, the more clearly I will hear from Him…the more His words will become my words…thus allowing me to bring Him more and more honor.

Lately I’ve been asking Jesus to draw me closer so that I can hear Him more effectively by asking Him to…

#1 - Let me see as He sees!  (This is REALLY changing the way I see other people and His church!  I am literally more fired up than I’ve ever been before!)

#2 - Let me feel like He feels!  (I want what brings Him joy to bring me joy…and what bothers Him to bother me…and He’s doing it…and BLOWING my mind in the process!)
Just another thought I’ve had while trying to raise our daughter!
