9 Signs Your Leadership May Be In Trouble

May 13, 2014

#9 – You care more about WHAT people are doing than WHO they are becoming.

#8 – You are doing ministry out of memory rather than vision.

#7 – You fear people more than you fear God. (I once heard a person say the equivalent of this is to not be afraid to slap a lion in the face, but cowering in fear in front of a common house cat!)

#6 – You allow your strategy to dictate your vision rather than your vision to establish a strategy.

#5 – You honestly cannot remember the last time you sat still long enough to hear God’s voice. (Our ability to lead effectively is directly tied into our ability to hear Him clearly!)

#4 – You refuse to learn from people who have any theological differences than you. (So thankful for the reminder from Andy Stanley in one of his recent sermons that Jesus did not allow His theology to get in the way of His ministry.)

#3 – You seek to criticize and tear down anything that is not your own idea.

#2 – In every meeting you attend YOU have to be the smartest person in ALL OF THEM. (This either means you are insecure and have not hired great people…or you are full of pride and really do believe you are smarter than everyone…which limits your church/organization to your own ideas.)

#1 – You are trying to “pray away” an obvious issue that God has put in front of you to deal with.
